Brief History The three main Islands St John. St Thomas and St Croix were purchased from the Dutch in 1917 for 25 Million Dollar’s ($300 an Acre). St Thomas being the main Island and well developed busy and bustling. St John being much less developed and mostly National Park. St Croix was amongst the strongest producers of sugar cane and only ceased production as late as 1966. Now popular with the more affluent Americans.
